June 22, 2026
Southeastern names Christina Norton as head volleyball coach. Coach Norton brings more than 17 years of coaching experience to the SCC volleyball program, including a highly successful tenure as a high school and club coach in New Mexico. She joined Colby Community College in 2025 after seven standout seasons as the Head Volleyball Coach at Cibola High School in Albuquerque.
During her time at Cibola (2018-2025), Norton built the Cougars into one of New Mexico's premier volleyball programs. Under her leadership, the team captured three District Championships (2018,2019,2023) and secured five consecutive top-four finishes at the 5A state level, including a State Runner-Up finish in 2023. She developed a culture of excellence focused on discipline, teamwork, and growth, with ten of her athletes advancing to compete at the collegiate level across NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior College programs.
Prior to Cibola, Norton served on the coaching staff at her alma mater, Rio Rancho High School, from 2009-2016. During her tenure, the Rams won the 2009 State Championship and finished as State Runner-Up in 2014.
As a player, Norton was a three-year varsity letter winner at Rio Rancho High School, where she helped lead the team to back-to-back state titles in 2005 and 2006. She received a scholarship to play at Midland College from 2007-2009.
In addition to her high school coaching accomplishments, Norton has coached club volleyball for over a decade, working with athletes from ages 10 to 18. Her teams have earned Top 10 finishes at multiple national tournaments and consistently competed at a high level.
SCC welcomes Christina as she brings her experience, energy, and player-first mindset to the collegiate level, where she continues to focus on athlete development, competitive excellence, and building a winning culture.
