Bio

Peyton Deterding was named Director of Athletics at Southeastern Community College on Sept. 1, 2021.

Deterding came to SCC after a serving as Athletic Director at NCAA Division II member Illinois-Springfield where he oversaw 15 varsity programs and was responsible for a 32% increase in the annual fund and two new endowed scholarships. Prior to that, Deterding spent 12 years at Illinois State University in which he rose from Assistant Athletic Director to Senior Associate Athletic Director. He led capital projects, budgeting, human resources, event management, facilities, and had direct sport oversight. Deterding played a key role in numerous facility upgrades, which were highlighted by the $27.1 million renovation to Hancock Stadium, the $3.1 million baseball stadium construction, turf and lighting installations, and the $1.7 million relocation and renovation of the ISU Tennis Complex. As well, he directed over a $1 million in locker and training room renovations.

Prior to joining ISU, the Denver, Iowa, native worked at Northern Illinois, where he served as the Huskies' event manager and football travel coordinator. As well, he spent time in game operations at Virginia and athletic ticketing at James Madison.

A 1998 graduate of Northern Iowa, where he served as a men's basketball manager, Deterding completed his master's degree in exercise and sport science from Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2002.

He and his wife Nikki reside in New London with son Jaece and daughter Hailey.
