Southeastern Clinches ICCAC Regular Season Title; Goes 5-1 on Week
BURLINGTON, IA — Southeastern Community College baseball capped a dominant week by clinching the ICCAC Regular Season Championship, finishing 5-1 from April 28 through May 2 while overpowering opponents with a balanced attack.
The Blackhawks opened the week with a pair of tight wins over Black Hawk College, earning victories of 10-9 and 6-5 in Burlington. Southeastern showed resilience in both contests, including a late push in the opener to secure the comeback win.
After a midweek setback on the road at Kirkwood, 6-11, Southeastern responded in emphatic fashion, sweeping North Iowa Area Community College in a three-game series to secure the conference crown. The Blackhawks outscored NIACC 52-10 across the series.
The offensive surge was on full display in a 16-6 win to open the series, followed by a 22-0 shutout, and capped by a 14-4 victory on May 2. Across the three games, Southeastern totaled 52 runs on 44 hits, controlling the series in all phases.
Offensive Leaders
Southeastern's lineup delivered production throughout the order during the championship week.
Jackson Petsche led the power surge, hitting .533 (8-for-15) with three home runs and 11 RBIs, including a two-home run, five-RBI performance in the series finale.
James Nydegger turned in one of the most efficient weeks at the plate, batting .583 (7-for-12) with two home runs and seven RBIs, highlighted by a 4-for-4, six-RBI game.
Kam Francois continued to set the tone at the top of the lineup, hitting .500 (10-for-20) while scoring 13 runs and consistently igniting the offense.
Brady Coffman added another big bat in the middle of the order, hitting .462 with two home runs and 10 RBIs, including a seven-RBI performance during the NIACC series.
Pitching Performances
The Southeastern pitching staff delivered key outings throughout the week.
Keaton Fenn headlined the staff with a dominant performance in the 22-0 win, tossing six shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out eight.
Kyler Kaczmarski earned the win in the series finale, striking out seven over five innings.
Isaac Flamino remained unbeaten on the season, picking up a win against NIACC while striking out six.
