Blackhawks and Warriors Split for a Good Cause
April 30, 2026
SCC Blackhawks and rival Indian Hills oftball suited up for a cause in their conference matchup Wednesday in Burlington. The squads donned teal colors in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month sponsored in part by the SCC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee club.
After a fun group photo of both teams in their special uniforms the friendly smiles turned to the fierce face of competitors for the two game series.
Indian Hills struck first with 3 runs in the first inning. SCC then strung together a bunch of hits topped off by a bases clearing double from Makenzie Sweeney (Yorkville, Ill.) that scored 3 runs. The Blackhawks ended the inning with a 5-3 lead.
Then SCC scored 3 more runs in the bottom of the fourth and 2 in the fifth which included a solo shot by Anna Woods (Grabill, Ind.).
SCC loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth and Logan Kelley (West Burlington) slid in safe at home on an infield hit for the 11-3 win in six innings.
The Blackhawks lost a close battle 7-6 in the second game. SCC closes the season with a 11-5 record in the conference and 31-15 overall.
The Region 11 conference tournament is set to begin next week with SCC as a second seed and host of a best-of-three series in the semifinal round. Today results means Indian Hills is the third seed and will return to SCC to play 2 games on Wednesday and if necessary a final game on Thursday.
